En Route!

Through a GSD forum, someone heard about the struggles I was having getting Limit to me in MI. This amazing person then offered to meet the breeder 1/2 from the airport and pick him up and bring him to Portland and ship him off to me. I cannot even describe the kindness. The breeder brought Limit to her SIL's house and the SIL met my friend from the forum. He ships out tonight and I go pick him up tomorrow morning in Detroit!

My friend tells me that he is a lot of fun. Very funny, full of energy and personality, bold/confident, curious, loves to tug and back talk! :-D Sounds like a riot!

A Name!

Brokenstirrups No Limits aka Limit!

Now if we could only find a way to get him to MI...turns out Remote Oregon is an iffy place to get a puppy out of. I wasn't even aware that was a possibility. It was so easy to get Kastle from Belgium to the US. We are looking at every possible route, flying, dog haulers, pet transporters...everything, hoping something will come up :-(

Search for a Dog

After searching for a Border Collie or Australian Cattle Dog to fit my performance and personality/temperament needs, and failing, I decided to check out the Australian Kelpie as an option. First, they are not that popular in the USA, therefore a little difficult to find litters. They are not recognized by the American Kennel Club, also making it difficult to find litters. They are recognized by the United Kennel Club but, like many breeds, there is a separation between working and show dogs.

I randomly came across a breeder in Diamond, OR who had pups for sale (Broken Stirrup Ranch), so I emailed to ask the standard questions. The breeder replied that she had one male puppy left, the other two are going to repeat homes and that she had placed pups in agility homes in the past with good results. She put a tennis ball in with the pups at 4.5 weeks old and the largest male pounced on it, growling and trying to stuff it into his mouth - did I want that one? Yup, I do! :-D
